What motivates gifted students to achieve their full potentials? This presentation examines underlying structures in school and home environments that engage students and motivate them to develop their individual talents. Learn how to use the Four Learning Mindsets framework to identify students’ individual motivators, aptitudes, and risks for underachievement in order to develop curriculum and instruction that challenges every student, every day.

Dr. Jeanne L. Paynter currently serves on the faculty of McDaniel College, Maryland where she teaches graduate courses in curriculum and gifted education. Jeanne served as the state specialist for gifted and talented education at the Maryland State Department of Education and was the Coordinator for Gifted Education and Magnet Programs K – 12 in Baltimore County Public Schools, a large urban/suburban district. Dr. Paynter earned a Master’s Degree in Gifted Education and Doctorate in Teacher Development and Leadership from the Johns Hopkins University.
