5.2.2 Mindfulness as a Changemaker for Global Peace: Gifted Children & Youth Involved
Gifted children and youth experience the ills of the world and desire to be actively engaged in generating activities that can contribute to peace on the global planet. Mindfulness is a pathway for promoting peace within and peace without. This interactive session focuses on current mindfulness research and specific examples of children and youth using mindfulness to develop a peaceful self and send peace to the global community.

Dorothy A. Sisk holds the CW Conn endowed chair in gifted education at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Dr. Sisk is the former Director of the Office of Gifted & Talented, U.S. Office of Education. She is currently a professor in the Teacher Education Department. Dorothy is author and co-author of fifteen books and serves as an international consultant and participant in collaborative global activities. Her most recent book is Planting Seeds of Mindfulness co-authored with Michele Kane.
