Asset Based Approaches to Early Childhood Gifted Education
“All early childhood educators have a professional obligation to advance equity” (NAEYC, 2019). Imagine the inequities that start in early childhood when students whose first language is not English have to be compared to English native speakers in US public schools. The presenters will share ways to create equitable and advanced learning opportunities for young children that respect the uniqueness of their talents and explicitly articulate powerful ways to design the learning environment to stimulate their thinking. The authors will emphasize that opportunities for growth in both performance and potential do not require one to compare children to each other.
