School Psychologist's Practices in an Educational Program for Gifted Students
This study aimed to examine the practices and challenges faced by school psychologists in a specialized educational program for gifted students in Brazil. A qualitative exploratory research was conducted with five school psychologists, using semi-structured virtual interviews and qualitative content analysis. Key practices identified were psychological assessments; support and guidance; brief interventions; activity planning, developing and monitoring; and disseminating information about gifted programs. Challenges consisted of myths about giftedness, policy changes, inconsistent legislation, and insufficient funding. Findings emphasize the importance of school psychologists in addressing gifted students' needs and suggest directions to enhance their practices in serving gifted students.
