Beyond Boundaries: School Leadership and Gifted Education in a Shifting Landscape
“It is a complex, yet exciting time to be an educational leader in the field of gifted education” (Brown & Rinko-Gay, 2017). School leaders face conflicting demands, balancing equity and excellence, while navigating resourcing pressures and systemic challenges. Despite varying leadership approaches, research consistently highlights that effective leadership significantly impacts gifted education, requiring culturally responsive practices and appropriate resourcing. This roundtable discussion will present a concise literature review from ongoing doctoral research, alongside thought-provoking questions to stimulate dialogue among delegates. Delegates will explore contemporary challenges for school leaders and identify systemic and cultural advancements essential to fostering talent development beyond 2025.
