The Talent Shift for Connecting Gifted Education to a Rapidly Changing World

A common explanation for the talent gap is the mismatch between the skills taught in educational institutions and those demanded by the current evolving workplace, technology, and innovations. The purpose of this session is to discuss the talent gap issue, and what it means specifically for gifted education practices. The session will present data from several countries to indicate the impact of this issue and its consequences globally. Then, the session will explore the types of talents required to meet the changing world trends. Examples of policies and initiatives for reforming gifted education programs toward such trends will be provided.
