Becoming a Talent Scout

When you walk into a gifted class, do these students reflect the population you would see in your regular classrooms? If the answer is no, you might have an equity issue. The question becomes how do we identify, cultivate, and develop these underrepresented students so that they have access to the same service as those with similar ability? We become talent scouts. We look for talent and try to develop it, much like a coach or an entertainment agent. This is what we attempted to do in our school -looking for talent in places we had never looked before.
