Building a Sustainable, School-Wide Policy for High-Ability Students: Lessons from Middenschool Heilig Hart

Individual teachers often recognize the need to address high-ability students' educational needs and can take autonomous steps in their classrooms. However, implementing a school-wide policy cannot rely solely on individual teachers. Educational accommodations for high-ability students should not depend on personal initiative. Building team-wide support and establishing sustainable, high-quality practices is essential. This talk presents how the team at Middenschool Heilig Hart in Belgium developed their policy, step by step, linking it to broader school priorities. Practical tips are shared to help schools take further steps in implementing a sustainable and widely supported educational policy for high-ability students.
