Creative Freedom: The Role of Divergent Thinking in Strengthening the Perception of the Mother-Child Bond for Incarcerated Mothers in Paraguay

Creativity is a powerful, universal skill that plays a crucial role in fostering emotional resilience, particularly for marginalized populations who often lack the opportunity to express their potential and access mental health support. This study examines how creative expression, specifically in the context of motherhood, can strengthen emotional resilience in incarcerated women. It explores how fostering divergent thinking, a key component of creativity, helps reshape their life stories and perceptions of the mother-child bond, improving their emotional well-being and supporting their reintegration. By addressing the intersections of motherhood, womanhood, and incarceration, the research aims to inform and enhance reintegration programs, emphasizing the role of creative expression in transforming lives.
