Mapping Achievement: Supporting Gifted Students with Accommodations in Math
Inclusionary accommodation policies and practices are essential for achieving educational equity in contemporary classrooms. While international organizations such as the OECD (2013) highlight the growing need for accommodations, existing literature mainly focuses on students with disabilities. This study addresses this gap by examining the probability of Ontario secondary gifted students in Canada meeting provincial math benchmarks with various accommodation packages. Results suggest that students who received specific packages, such as extended time and individual or small-group settings, had a significantly higher likelihood of achieving benchmarks. These findings inform educators and policymakers about effective accommodations for gifted students in math.
