AI-Assisted Tutoring Platforms and Chatbots in EFL Instruction for Gifted Learners
Recent studies show AI’s transformative potential (Li, 2024), especially in the expanding learning environment (Siegle, 2023) and inspires creativity thinking for gifted students (Ronksley-Pavia, 2024). This paper compares the effect of AI-assisted tutoring platforms and Chatbots in the EFL instruction for gifted students at Beijing No.8 High School. Thirty gifted learners’ growth in language proficiency is evaluated through CAF and discourse analyses with corpus tools including AntConc and UAM CorpusTool. Results indicate that compared to learners using AI-assisted exercises customized for specific curricula, learners who interact with Chatbots gain higher complexity, accuracy, and fluency in their written and spoken speech. The results provide insights into the incorporation and utilization of various AI tools in language education for gifted learners.
