Music School Teachers’ Attitudes towards the Gifted Students in Greek Secondary Education: Processes for their Identification

Students with high abilities in Music and other fields, in Greek Music Secondary Education schools, were identified and evaluated by 94 teachers for their abilities. Via the voluntary completion of five scales from the SRBCSS (Renzulli, et al, 2002), 35 teachers (37.2%) out of the total sample, identified 35 gifted students. All teachers completed the Gagne & Nadeau’s scale (1991) “Opinions about the Gifted and their Education”. Teachers’ difficulties in identifying students’ special high abilities and formulating clear attitudes towards the gifted education are discussed.
