Teacher Education: Giftedness in Focus in Basic Education

This paper presents an initiative carried out with 60 teachers from a public school in the interior of São Paulo, serving 980 children in basic education, aged between three and ten years. The initiative was developed in partnership with the university, focusing on continuous professional development based on the needs of both teachers and students, especially regarding the support of students with gifted behaviors. Although the need for teacher improvement is widely recognized, the structure of training programs still receives little visibility.
