Exploring the Differences in Relationship Between Gifted Students' Autonomous Learning and Their Talent Development and Regular Students
In order to understand the relationship between the development of gifted students' talents and autonomous learning, this study compiled a scale for primary and secondary school students, and conducted an investigation to compare the differences. A total of 440 gifted and 440 regular students in Taiwan participated. The results found that there is a moderate to high positive correlation between students’ talent development and autonomous learning (r= .658, p< .05). Gifted students outperformed regular students in both talent development and autonomous learning (individual and environmental factors). There are also significant differences among students of different gifted categories. However, there is no significant difference in independent learning among students with different genders and different learning experiences, such as grade-skipping, self-study or award-winning students.
