Strength-based Strategies: Building Executive Functioning and Social Emotional Skills in Twice Exceptional Learners

Common challenges for twice-exceptional students are poor executive function and self-regulation skills. Research and practice have shown the best way to support growth is through the use of strength-based strategies. This session includes practical, researched-based strategies developed during 40 years of working with high ability learners in both independent and public school settings. A brief simulation will underscore the need for student self-awareness of their strengths and challenges. In addition, participants will learn how to help students use this awareness to develop explicit strength- based, instructional strategies to address their executive functioning and social and emotional challenges.
