Giftedness and Underidentification Challenges in Brazil: Cognitive, Emotional, and Educational Implications for Children and Adolescents

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the cognitive and emotional profiles of gifted children and adolescents in Brazil, based on Renzulli's Three-Ring Model and incorporating neuroscience findings. A total of 25 children, aged 6 to 14, were assessed, with 13 identified as gifted. Cognitive evaluations revealed above-average IQ, memory, attention, executive function, and academic performance, while emotional issues, including anxiety and perfectionism, were also identified. The study emphasizes the need for early identification and specialized support, particularly in the context of Brazil's underidentification of gifted individuals.
