Panel: Extracurricular Enrichment Programs for Gifted Students in Portugal: Experiences in Porto/Gondomar, Braga, Lisbon and “By the Hand of Literature I See the World” Project

Gifted, talented, and high ability students form an extremely heterogeneous group. This diversity poses a significant challenge in designing and implementing educational measures tailored to their interests and needs. Given their unique characteristics, it is essential that the educational activities proposed are intellectually challenging, promote autonomy, and encourage the development of metacognitive strategies, creative thinking, and self-regulation, as well as social and emotional skills (Rocha et al., 2020). The National Association for the Study and Intervention in Giftedness, ANEIS, develops extracurricular enrichment programs, inspired by Renzulli's School Enrichment Model (Renzulli & Reis, 2014) that constitute an innovative and personalized educational alternative, designed by multidisciplinary teams to meet the individual needs, interests, and aptitudes of the participants.
