The Effect of a STEM-Based Enrichment Unit on Gifted 6th Graders’ Academic Achievement, Problem-Solving Skills, and Attitudes Towards STEM Learning
This study examines the effect of a STEM-based enrichment unit on gifted young learners' academic achievement, problem-solving skills, and attitudes toward STEM learning. Thirty-three female 6th graders in the UAE's Elite Stream participated. Using a mixed-method approach, qualitative data were collected through classroom observations, and quantitative data were obtained from a content-based test focused on problem-solving skills, an attitude survey on STEM learning, and participants’ summative exam scores. A paired-sample t-test analysis indicates improvements in participants' academic achievement, problem-solving skills, and positive attitudes toward STEM learning.
