Pathways to Underachievement Model: Factors Influencing Underachievement in Gifted University Students

The issue of underachievement is relatively common among gifted individuals. Since gifted individuals are often those who make the most significant contributions to society and bring about beneficial innovations, it is crucial to dedicate considerable attention to this phenomenon. This presentation focuses on the issue of underachievement among gifted individuals studying at the university level. The research aims to validate the Pathways to Underachievement Model (Snyder & Linnenbrink-Garcia, 2013) in a university population. It examines which personal and motivational factors play a role in the emergence of underachievement. The research is intended to form the foundation for subsequent longitudinal studies.
