The Examination of the Relationship Between Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices Scores and Verbal Creative Thinking Skills in University Students

This research examines the relationship between cognitive abilities and creative thinking skills among university students, which are essential 21st-century skills. The study involved 418 university students. Data was collected using Raven’s Standard Progressive Matrices Test and the Torrance Verbal Creative Thinking Test Form A, both designed to assess cognitive abilities and creative thinking. The analysis revealed significant differences in creative thinking and cognitive ability scores based on the students' academic programs. Moreover, a meaningful correlation was found between verbal creative thinking scores and Raven’s test scores, indicating that higher cognitive abilities are associated with better creative thinking skills.
