Bridging Content and Pedagogy: Elevating Gifted Education with PCK

This presentation explores the critical role of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) in enhancing gifted education. Drawing on Shulman’s framework, it examines how effectively blending content knowledge and pedagogical strategies can improve teaching practices and student outcomes. Despite its significance, PCK remains underutilized in gifted education research, often overshadowed by general pedagogical knowledge. In this session, we will discuss the WCGTC Global Principles in Professional Learning as a guide for developing educators' PCK, emphasizing evidence-based practices and tailored professional development. Attendees will gain insights into fostering deeper learning experiences for gifted students through enhanced teacher understanding and application of PCK.
