Mentors and Peers in a STEAM Club for Highly Gifted Learners

The STEAM Club provides a unique space for highly gifted learners (140+ scores in FSIQ or individual indices) to engage in collaborative exploration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. It addresses a pressing need for programming tailored for highly gifted learners, who often lack stimulating opportunities for learning. Our program integrates mentorship, peer interaction, support for students and parents, and hands-on projects that take into account their exceptional cognitive abilities; fostering interdisciplinary thinking and addressing social-emotional needs. This session highlights the club’s design, outcomes, and challenges, offering strategies to replicate and adapt the model globally.
