Assessing the Socio-emotional Needs of Talented Students in a STEM-Focused School System

This ongoing study involves secondary students in the Philippines with high aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). In order to support the social and emotional needs of these talented students, a survey (N=8,176) was conducted among Grades 7-12 students for the school year 2025-2026. Initial results indicate that students across grade levels strongly need to be able to cope with academic demands (41.03%), learn how to constructively express their feelings (31.54%), enhance their self-confidence (38.36%), and make wise career decisions (52.95%). Data gathered from this study will inform action plans, programs, and interventions to be implemented to better address students’ priority needs.
