Using Gifted Education Plans to Increase Student Agency in the Secondary Gifted Classroom

The presentation will delve into understanding the unique needs of secondary students, fostering agency, and integrating gifted education plans to optimize academic growth. It leverages the findings from a Javits grant, Project GLIMPSE, to feature incorporating student-led goals that modify gifted standards to focus on developing individual areas of strength and mentoring students to develop Renzulli Type III projects in an area of interest and helping students report progress toward their goals as they reflect on their projects. Through this model, students develop agency, mastery, and purpose in a customized educational journey that fits their unique, individual needs.
