Family Perceptions on the School Inclusion of Their Children with High Abilities/Giftedness

The school inclusion of students with high abilities/giftedness is still a major challenge faced by Brazilian schools. The aim of this text is to analyze the strategies adopted by schools that have students with high abilities/giftedness and whether these strategies have been beneficial to their inclusive process. Thirty-five family members participated in the research, and after analyzing the interviews, it was concluded that the majority reported that the schools adopt inclusive strategies. However, in some cases, extracurricular enrichment was not adequately planned according to the type of potential identified, which led to student demotivation to attend educational support services.
