Unleashing STEM Talent: A Multi-Tiered Approach to Developing STEM Talents

This presentation highlights a federally funded project aimed at supporting gifted students from underserved populations in STEM education. Addressing systemic barriers such as inequitable access and flawed identification practices, the project integrates STEM enrichment with social and emotional learning (SEL) to enhance both academic and emotional development. Based on the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework, the program offers universal access to enrichment opportunities, more targeted STEM programming in small groups, mentoring with STEM professionals, and a focus on developing executive functioning skills. The session will highlight best practices, curriculum modules, and strategies for promoting talent development in STEM.
