Planning and Verbal Fluency, Presentation of a Case of a Talented Chess Player with Intellectual Giftedness
Chess is a strategy board game currently considered an individual sport. Some studies suggest that chess practice stimulates cognitive functions such as inhibition, planning, working memory, cognitive flexibility, analytical capacity, and creative and innovative thinking (Gindia and Pilbelb, 2020; Ramos, et al, 2018), so this discipline has a special consideration in the educational, mathematical and scientific fields. Approaching the topic from the perspective of the person, we find talented child chess players who have won championships, like the one presented, from whom a high level of performance is expected in tasks related to executive functions. The objective of this work is to analyze the functions of visuospatial planning, sequential planning and verbal fluency in a girl identified as a talented chess player.
