Piloting a Mixed-Methods Study of the Gifted and Talented Enrichment Programming in Egypt
Investigating the support for gifted students in Egyptian regular schools is essential. Despite existing legislation, identification processes and appropriate services for gifted students are underdeveloped. This mixed methods study explores a pilot program in 10 schools across Cairo and Giza, involving 280 students and approximately 14 staff members. Participants include gifted education coordinators, students, and parents. Data were gathered through surveys, assessments, semi-structured interviews, and program documentation. Analysis revealed themes such as competencies of teachers and coordinators, program implementation benefits and challenges, and administrative support. The findings aim to promote systematic changes, enhance school leader and teacher training, and inform policies to improve gifted student achievement in Egypt.
