Converging Neuroscience, Athletics, and Psychology to Empower Inclusive Gifted Instruction and Classrooms

The application of three fields of study: neuroscience, athletics, and the psychology of expert performance,to the design and implementation of instruction in the secondary humanities classroom yields significant results in the quantity and quality of engagement across a diverse continuum of student learners. The implementation of these methods enhance an environment of equity and inclusion for gifted learners. Literal and figurative movement, as well as theoretical concepts such as metacognition, prediction, chunking, deliberate practice, feedback, and reflection, become the tools to transform classroom learning into spaces of individual agency, empowering all children to access their intellectual potential.
