Successful World Conference Held in Prague

More than 450 people interested in advancing gifted education participated in the 19th Biennial World Conference in Prague, Czech Republic August 8-12. Educators, parents and students from 57 countries from around the world attended the opportunity in Eastern Europe to share the latest scholarship and information on gifted education. The Czech representatives were incredibly gracious hosts and encouraged conference goers to tour and enjoy their beautiful historic “Golden City” when time permitted. This was the first conference since the WCGTC relocated to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY and several educators from WKU were on hand to share the latest about the new World Headquarters and plans for the future. WCGTC delegates and members at the conference were also given opportunities to provide feedback on everything from conference proceedings to the WCGTC website. Those ideas will be incorporated in the months ahead. A big thank you to the Executive Committee of the World Council and the local Organizing Committee for providing such a terrific venue and well run and successful conference. The next World Conference will be held in Auckland, New Zealand in 2013 and the Organizing Committee there is already busy planning for another great conference offering the latest innovative ideas in gifted education. We hope to see you all there!
