4.1.8 Cancelled

Every twice exceptional student is different. The one thing they always have in common is the complicated nature of their profile. Asynchronous development leaves parents, teachers and the 2e student himself wondering “Why can I do this, but I can’t do that?” Being misunderstood year after year solidifies the downward spiral at home, at school and with peers. In order to address the complexities of these challenges, a structured process is required. The Cycle for Success involves three steps: 1. Gaining a deep understanding of the 2e experience, 2. Learning and practicing durable strategies, and 3. Collaborative advocacy training. Using the trademarked acronym P-R-A-I-S-E, standing for Personal Connection, Reframe, Anticipate, Incentives and Choice, Sense of Humor, and Exercise, the presenter will give parents and educators tools to proactively rather than reactively address their 2e students’ challenges.
