4.3.1 Yes, Dad. I Can Hear You! I'm Choosing to Ignore You

Raising gifted and talented is already a very challenging task for parents if their gifts and talents are to be nurtured and developed. The challenges are multiplied for parents of Gifted children with identified disabilities. Hearing loss is a challenge that requires a lot of forward planning, communication, patience, guidance and teamwork if the child is going to be academically supported and whose giftedness is to be really nurtured. This symposium is designed to highlight the struggles and support for parents whose gifted and talented children suffer from hearing loss, the need for "all hands on deck" mindset for nurturing the child's physical, social, emotional and academic needs
