4.5.7 My Gifted Students Nailed It! What Now?

Meeting the needs of gifted math students in a mixed-ability classroom is a challenge for teachers. In this presentation, presenters share ready-made pre-assessments and extended learning tasks that are used to differentiate for gifted learners in grades 3-7. These resources specifically designed for gifted math students by district support teams are embedded in each grade-level curriculum. Based on pre-assessment data, students have the opportunity to engage in the extended learner tasks. These tasks provide students the opportunity to collaboratively explore the concepts and standards in more depth and apply their knowledge in a new and creative way. Continuous professional development and support is provided to teachers to maximize the effectiveness of using this resources. Participants will leave with examples of resources and strategies that can be easily integrated in their current programming.
