Why attend?

The WCGTC World Conference provides a unique opportunity for educators, researchers, parents, psychologists, and others interested in gifted education to come together and share information about gifted students. But don’t take our word for it; see what previous attendees have said about the World Conference!

Opportunities to expand perspectives and learning various strategies to educate Gifted and Talented students brought some ideas that could be applied in my country. Learning there are some similar problems related with Gifted and Talented in many countries raised the awareness to collaborate and contribute in solving the problems together.

I found the entire conference challenging and useful, and immediately applicable to my classroom environment. If I had to single out one highlight, then it was the Keynote Address by Mark Scott. As a school teacher at a selective high school I found the content particularly interesting, relevant, and thought provoking.

The content of the conference sessions was quality and the opportunity to interact with around 600 GT colleagues from 30 different countries who share great commonalities all provided a memorable experience for me.

Attending a conference abroad may be expensive but the benefits are definitely bigger. As a doctoral student it was a great investment in myself, and a unique experience to meet scholars from all over the world, improve my knowledge about the field, and make networks. I came back home with great ideas and very excited about enhancing gifted area in Brazil.

I found the networking and the presentations on eating disorders and gifted girls and gifted reading of novels using literary criticisms to be most valuable. I also enjoyed hearing about the "state of gifted" in Australia and Jane Piirto's address. I also loved the opportunity for presenting my research on creativity and young creators.

Being in such an environment opened new horizons in my life. Carrying the attainments to my country, applying new strategies on what could be done for new studies, and how we can do beneficial research for our schools and these special children. This gave new perspectives on available opportunities.
Çiğdem Çelik-Şahin
The research shared on giftedness enlightened me on how to deal with gifted students in my own school.

Listening to the gurus and experts was a definite highlight. I was both inspired and motivated to do more good work in school back in Singapore.
