The Mayor of Braga, Ricardo Rio, and the City Councilor for Education, Carla Sepúlveda, welcomed Denise Fleith, the global leader of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC), at the City Hall’s Noble Hall on the morning of Friday, September 13th.
In partnership with the National Association for the Study and Intervention in Giftedness (ANEIS), this international organization will hold the world conference “The Power of Gifted Education and Talent Development in a Changing World” in Braga. The event will take place from July 29 to August 2 at Espaço Vita.
The importance of this conference goes beyond national borders, as it will bring together in our city world-renowned experts, educators, researchers, and policymakers with the purpose of discussing the latest practices and innovative approaches in the field of education for students with high abilities.
This event will be a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, promoting international collaborations and, above all, reinforcing the commitment to the educational inclusion of gifted students.
ANEIS has played a leading role in this field in Portugal and beyond. Alongside national and international congresses, ANEIS was responsible for creating the first Observatory for Giftedness and Talent, supported by the Active Citizens Program and managed by the Calouste Gulbenkian and Bissaya Barreto Foundations. The association has also published impactful studies in international scientific journals, among other initiatives.
Thus, this conference will be a moment of reflection and action, aiming to chart the future of gifted education and talent development.
