The World Council for Gifted and Talented Children Announces 2025 Award Winners

In conjunction with the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC®) biennial conference, the WCGTC® presents awards in six different areas of recognition: research, creativity, leadership, distinguished service, emerging leader, and emerging scholar.

The Executive Committee congratulates each of the 2025 award winners.

  1. Harry Passow International Award for Leadership in Gifted Education
    Dr. Susana Pérez Barrera  – Universidad de la Empresa, Montevideo, Uruguay

    The recipient must have international stature as a leader in gifted education—one whose life and work have significantly influenced policy and practices in gifted education or one who has made other outstanding contributions in promoting the cause of gifted education worldwide.

  2. Emerging Leader in Gifted Education Award
    Dr. Tyler Clark – The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University, USA
    Dr. Orla Dunne – Dublin City University, Ireland

    The recipient must be in the first 10 years of career in gifted education; evidence of advanced studies in gifted education, talent development, or creativity (e.g., certification, graduate degree); evidence of impact of teaching, research, and/or advocacy on gifted education in their country or region; evidence of outstanding promise for leadership; and evidence of service to gifted education.

  3. Emerging Scholar in Gifted Education Award
    Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Alabbasi – Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain
    Dr. Michelle Ronksley-Pavia – Griffith University, Australia

    The recipient must be a current member of the WCGTC; in the first 10 years of career in gifted education; evidence of graduation from their most recent advanced research degree gifted education, talent development, or creativity (i.e., Doctoral) within 10 years of the nomination; evidence of impact of research in gifted education in their country or region; evidence of outstanding promise for leadership; and evidence of service to gifted education.
